Selena Gomez may be a star herself but that doesn’t prevent her from becoming star-struck from time to time. She found herself in that very situation on Friday, when she attended a pre-Oscars party and met The Help‘s Octavia Spencer.
According to a report from Hollywood Life, Selena was even a little bit nervous when in the presence of this woman she admires so much. But she took a deep breath, found her bearings and got the nerve up to approach her.
“I love Octavia Spencer. She was so incredible in The Help. When I saw her tonight I was really nervous, but I just went up to her and asked her if I could have a picture taken with her. She was so sweet,” Selena says.
Selena is really quite sweet herself. So many young celebrities in her shoes take their status for granted. They expect things and they consider themselves on equal footing even in the midst of actresses and singers who have long since done their time within the industry. Not Selena Gomez, though. She is humble. She is respectful. And she treats others with the kind of respect she appreciates herself.
This is yet another reason Selena and boyfriend Justin Bieber are so wonderful together. That sense of humility keeps them grounded and mindful of those around them.
How wonderful for both Selena Gomez and Octavia Spencer that the two could meet at the pre-Oscars party they both attended. It will likely be something neither woman will soon forget.
