Selena used the event’s red carpet to set the record straight about her tattoo, which was previously reported to be a heart.
‘It’s a music note,’ Selena told Access Hollywood of her new tattoo, which serves as an ode to her love of music. ‘Everybody thought that it was a heart for some reason, but music is a big influence in my life.’
‘I was named after a singer, I’m a singer and a lot of other personal reasons, so, that’s what I got,’ said Selena, who has released two hit albums with her band Selena Gomez & The Scene.
Her Canadian pop star boyfriend Justin Bieber, who turns 18 on March 1, has three tattoos which might have also inspired her to get inked.
The ‘Love You Like A Love Song’ singer has also been sporting some very romantic new bling courtesy of her boyfriend.

When asked whether the diamond-studded ring in the shape of a ‘J’ is actually a promise ring, Selena responded: ‘No, no — that’s like almost a friendship ring. It’s just for fun.’
